What are you Thankful for?

What are you thankful for?Even if you think about who and what you are thankful for on a daily basis, this is THE week to reflect. As I did this little exercise with my family, I realized there is a lot to be thankful for — family, friends, food, shelter, work. Yes, work and everything that goes with that work. Are you thankful for your work? Not for the money your work brings in, but for the work itself? If you’ve never really thought about this, I encourage you to write down at least five things you are thankful for as it relates to your work. Then, when you’re having one of those down days pull out your list. You may just have more to be thankful for than you thought.

What I am thankful for (as it relates to work)

1. I am thankful for the Internet! It seems so simple, but without this wonderful thing we call the world wide web I wouldn’t have my job. Who knows what I’d be doing. It seems impossible to think of a world without the Internet (even if I am old enough to not have grown up with it :)).

2. I am thankful for Linkedin. Yes, Linkedin has kept me connected to hundreds of current and former colleagues, introduced me to new clients and friends, made me money and delivered a whole new level to my business.

3. I am thankful for Google search. I don’t miss the days of 10 pound encyclopedias or weekend trips to the library. With good search techniques and a critical eye you can find just about anything online. I love that.

4. I am thankful for Google maps and the businesses that keep current on Google maps. Hardly a day goes by that I don’t look up a restaurant, business or other location on my trusty computer or smartphone. I am thankful to those businesses that keep their listing current with Google so I can find them quickly and easily!

5. I am thankful for meaningful connections to people like you through this blog, webinars, emails and social media. It’s these connections that make business enjoyable and put life into an otherwise lifeless mass of bits and bytes.

Now it’s your turn. What are you thankful for as it relates to your work?
